SWEET SPOT x Pantelleria.
La Perla Nera.
postponed to May 2023, stay tuned for the new date!
Rooftop yoga. Ocean sunsets. Breathtaking landscapes. The tastes of Sicily. Mud-baths and volcanic lakes.
Our first summer retreat brings us to the mystical island of Pantelleria. The Black Perl of the Mediterranean is a volcanic island, in the middle between Tunisia and Italy. Due to its central position, ever since ancient times, the island has been a crossroads on shipping routes between Africa and Europe. It's Arabic name pays tribute to the strong winds which can blow from the Tunisian coastline: Bent el-ariah, Daughter of the Wind.
Our home away from home will be Parco dei Sesi. A collection of traditional dammusi of volcanic rock, overlooking the sunset and Africa, at 200 meters from the sea. Its black volcanic stone architecture is seamlessly integrated into the landscape and offers spacious accommodations, art, a generous pool area, indoor and outdoor yoga space, various rooftops for sunset gazing and amazing curated exteriors.
Immerse in the raw and mystic beauty of the island, soak up the Mediterranean sun, dive into the crystal clear water and leave recharged and inspired.
Your SWEET SPOT journey
5 nights at Parco dei Sesi. The whole property is ours for the time. A generous pool area invites to chill and relax, the gardens to wander off and reflect and the spacious terraces and rooftops to watch the sun set over the Tunisian coastline and gaze at the stars.
Daily movement, breathwork and meditation - morning and evening practice with Birgit and Mike. We embrace a wide variety of yoga lineages and styles. With a modern approach to these ancient teachings we aim to create the strongest possible offering for the physical and emotional health and well being of our community. At SWEET SPOT Yoga our primary traditions are Vinyasa, Hatha and Katonah Yoga. In our practices we integrate various other Embodiment Practices, Functional Movement, HIIT sequences, Ritual, Yin and Restorative Yoga and shaking it out in a sweaty dance session every now and then. It gives us joy to create playlists, we love sound baths, hands-on adjustments and playing with scent.
Breakfast, light lunch and dinner. Expect Sicilian Cuisine with local products. A delicious breakfast to start the day after our morning practice. Some light snack mid-day or packed lunch in case we leave for a day long exploration of the island. And after a full day under the Mediterranean sun we will gather around a lovely set long table for a shared meal, served family-style by the wonderful Parco dei Sesi team.
Each day is balanced between group activities, and free time to do as you wish. There is plenty of time to relax at the property, hang by the pool and embrace some precious me-time. And there are countless opportunities to explore what the island has to offer. With the underwater and earthly volcanic activity still very present, it appears to be a kind of natural and open-air spa. Hike between smoky fumaroles coming out of the ground during a trek to Favare, take a dip in the thermal waters of Cala Nikà or mud-bath in the bubbling waters of Lago Specchio di Venere. Wether you want to just hang by the pool and read your favorite book or explore the island with (new) friends - everything is optional.
